NCF areas of service across Egypt

The Needy Christian Fund (NCF) is a non-profit organisation established in 1979, under the auspices of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III. From 2003, the organisation has been chaired by His Grace Bishop Daniel, Bishop of the diocese of Sydney and Affiliated Regions.

For 25 years the NCF has been diligently working with the poor, sick and needy communities of Egypt, in particular reaching out to widows, orphans and children with physical or mental disabilities.

Our vision is to follow in the footsteps of our Lord whose compassion and love for the poor, sick and needy is the benchmark for the work of His children.

NCF has a massive task of distributing monthly living assistance allowances to hundreds of families in many areas of Egypt, and we are constantly trying to increase our reach especially in the poorest areas of Upper Egypt.

In addition to the living allowance assistance, NCF also runs special programs for education and on special occasions such as Christmas, Easter and New Year.

The main income source for NCF is derived from donations and the Sponsorship Programs, where people can sponsor a child, family or a project for a small monthly contribution. Contributions are sent directly to the persons in need and no fee is deducted by the NCF for the processing of the sponsorship or the transfer of the aide overseas.

Further to the donations and Sponsorship Programs, NCF also manages investment projects and conducts annual fundraising activities. The proceeds from these activities are also used to fund the needy programs.

NCF is run entirely by voluntary staff in Australia and Egypt. To find out more about how to become an NCF volunteer click here.
